200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Salt Water Studios 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training

Starting October 2026 and running for one weekend per month until May 2027, our 200 hour yoga teacher training will be led by studio owner and senior yoga teacher Katie Robertson.

Our yoga teacher training is spread out over 8 months allowing you time to learn, process and refine your teaching with ongoing support. The course is a combination of in person sessions underpinned by monthly online catch ups / study groups that help to embed everything you learn. It is welcoming, supportive, progressive, equitable and empowering, whilst being rooted in love and liberation. I offer the the option of continued mentoring once the course is completed to help you find your feet and grow as a teacher.

“Now, the teachings of yoga begin”

In the above translated sutra, from the ancient text Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra’s, Patanjali tells us that it is possible for any of us to experience yoga and realise the truth, because this truth is available all around us; if we are willing to look deeply into things, we would be able to realise it. Everything is more than it seems. There is always something hidden underneath the surface of a person or a thing, but to discover it you have to be willing to look deeply.

This YTT will be that chance – too look deeply. Come with me on an enchanting journey of intention, commitment, presence and (r)evolution. Across 9 weekends spread over 8 months you will immerse yourself in all that yoga is and has to share with you – appreciating this process as not only one where you will receive and learn so much, but also one of service and devotion where you will already be starting to give back. Our yoga teacher training has a down to earth approach that encourages you to reflect on the roots of yoga as you learn to teach honestly and fully for this time we are in now. We honour the roots and evolve at the same time. Throughout the course you will grow in confidence, gain a deeper understanding of yoga and of yourself whilst connecting with your peers on the course – which is often one of the most lovely parts!

Our course is registered with Yoga Alliance Professionals which will give you the confidence to know that we are covering everything required at an industry level.

Join our 200 hour yoga teacher training led by Katie Robertson, senior yoga teacher and founder of Hotpod Yoga Worthing and Salt Water Studios and co-owner of Hotpod Yoga Horsham.

The ancient mystic Rumi once said:

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
There is a field. I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
The world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
Doesn’t make any sense.”

It is my heartfelt intention to meet you in this Field ….we will almost certainly arrive there at some point throughout your yoga teacher training journey. This hopefully gives you a small insight into what I wish to invite you into during this course – the magical, mystical as well as the matter will all matter!!!

Collaborative Teaching and Dreaming

My style of teaching is collaborative in that I will not be lecturing you and TELLING you what to do and how to do it. For each and every topic, subject and theme there will be elements of me sharing knowledge and wisdom with you from what I have learnt along the way but a huge part of our time together will be group discussion – shared learning and spaces to collaborate because this is so often where the magic happens and the juice starts to over flow! In this way, no training, class, workshop or retreat I guide is ever the same because the people that come are all so beautifully unique. So, what we dicuss on one training and the path that leads us down may not come up in the same way on another. And because the subject of Yoga is SO vast and never ending we can’t go wrong with this approach. I always wish for students and trainees to lean into what lights them up and so when it comes to your own learning on the YTT, there may already be certain aspects of your practise or the subject of yoga that lights you up and you maybe looking forward to delving more deeply into those bits. You may also find new parts that excite you as you embark on your teacher training and so that might lead our discussions in another direction.

I am incredibly passionate about and inspired by people and perspectives and this is what drives lots of my work. Some times I feel like I am here on Earth to study human beings. I am endlessly fascinated by the way that people perceive things and their stories and I am devoted, through my work in community , to the sense of shared responsibility and connection that comes from yoga. I strive to be a beacon of support and change within our community, through the sanctuary of the yoga studios I have created with my husband Ross and through the classes, workshops, retreats, circle and ceremonies I hold.

I don’t have any prerequisites for this YTT because I truly believe that if you are interested in embarking on this journey then you should be supported. What this world needs more than ever now are spaces for the collective to heal and feel what is going on in their bodies and minds so that as a group we can show up off the mat to continue our yoga. Whether you are someone who ends up teaching yoga at the end of this training or whether you simply allow the training to take you deeper on your own journey of liberation, you will be making a difference to the collective and be supporting this planet to heal.

“Practice and all is coming” Sri K Pattabhi Jois

I will say though that this YTT is not for you if you are seeking a dogmatic approach to teaching and for someone to lecture you whilst you sit still all day. A huge part of our time together will be PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE – in every way. This will allow you to assimilate the teaching as we go through the process together.

I am passionate about supporting people to realise their full potential and understand the many nuances around perspectives. My style of teaching and creating space for retreats, circles and ceremonies is a little bit like telling a story and I love to weave in a melting pot of modalities and take my students on a journey. I feel like this teacher training will be one of the most enchanting journeys yet. I have been teaching yoga for 12 years now and have taught close to 9,000 hours of teaching in that time. I am kind and gentle in my approach and will support you to lean into your authenticity and find your voice as a teacher. I am very much looking forward to welcoming all of you who choose to join me into this course and will be preparing diligently to ensure I deliver something meaningful and worthwhile. the wider team will be made up of local teachers who I am deeply inspired by. Each teacher has been handpicked by me because I believe that they will offer you something unique and valuable to enhance your YTT experience.
